Welcome to the public information website for the proposed Oklahoma
Spaceport Environmental Assesment (EA). This website contains information
about the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority (OSIDA),
the Clinton-Sherman Industrial Airpark (CSIA), and OSIDA’s
initiative to operate a commercial launch facility.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Associate Administrator
for Commercial Space Transportation (AST) with the help of a third
party contractor is preparing an EA for OSIDA’s proposed operations
in Oklahoma. The project was originally initiated in 2002 as an
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS); however, changes to the proposed
action have eliminated the need for vertical launch, construction,
orbital launches, and vehicle manufacturing. The EA will address
horizontal launch of suborbital Reusable Launch Vehicles (RLVs)
from an existing runway at the CSIA. A notice was published in the
Federal Register on October 6, 2005 announcing the cancellation
of the EIS. (click here to download).
The Final
EA is available on this website.
